Lily Pulls Out Her Toy

Ronald connected with Lily on a dating app. He had been immediately attracted to her when he came across her profile. She put a lot of geeky jokes in her profile that he instantly understood and found himself laughing at. She was big into sci-fi books and movies and even posted a photo of her standing next to William Shatner at a Star Trek convention.

Lily was short with a skinny frame. She wore vintage eyeglasses and dressed in non-descript clothes. She was also very quiet and took some time to open up to you. She worked as a reference librarian at the local library in town.

Their initial conversations on the app were all about sci-fi books and movies and Ronald was surprised at how much she knew about the genre. He thought that he knew almost everything about various authors and filmmakers within the sci-fi genre but Lily had him beat. She was like an encyclopedia of knowledge. He was discovering so much that he never knew.

Their first date was at a bar that they both had frequented often. Ronald was surprised because he had never seen Lily at the bar and he went there a lot. The bar seemed to cater to geeks, nerds, and outsiders. Many times, Ronald had heard conversations about graphic novels, horror movies, and even about space exploration. It was his type of place.

When he met Lily, he immediately stood up and pulled out a chair for her at the table. She smiled at him and thanked him. She was dressed in denim jeans and a brown and gray sweater. She was unbelievably cute and Ronald couldn’t stop looking at her. He was dressed in a dark blue polo shirt and black jeans. He hoped that the shirt hid the beer gut that had been slowly growing over the past few months.

They ordered some drinks and chatted for what felt like hours. Lily opened up even more as they talked and he found himself laughing constantly at her jokes. She was very funny and was also a great listener.

They made plans immediately to see each other again and their second date was at another local bar where they talked for hours. At the end of the date, Lily invited Ronald to her place and they continued their conversation on her couch. Lily lived in a studio apartment that was warm and cozy. She sat very close to him and kept putting her hand on his thigh.
