Haiku or sonnet it’s time to play with poetry

On a platform like Medium, we are exposed to a multitude of writing styles, subject matters, and formats and I thought it was time we celebrate our diversity a bit more here on The Honest Perspective.

From now on, the last week of every month will be a home for poetry in all its forms…

acrostic

anything and everything goes so perhaps challenge yourself and try something new.

If a theme helps, for this month I invite you to think about friendship.

Who was your first friend?

Who do you think will be your last?

Are you a good friend, what makes a person good or bad at friendship?

Do you feel lonely surrounded by people?

Do you wake up to your best friend each morning?

Explore the different forms friendship takes in your life and let the muse inspire you.

I can’t wait to read your work!

A few things to remember…

You can respond to any prompt at any time, so if you feel in need of a nudge but this week’s isn’t right for you, have a look through past posts and let your curiosity lead you.

Please remember prompts are not mandatory, you can submit a piece of poetry or prose on any topic in our publication.

And last of all, if you are submitting a response to a prompt, please include the tag ‘prompt’ when sending it to us.
