Soundless

There is an expanse of gray between black and white

It is there that the colors burst so loud the entire world falls silent, soundless for a calm wild moment

These are the moments I am nothing more than truly me and I finally make sense

I exist in this weird beautiful gray space where I’m uncomfortably okay with impermanence

I can miss someone deeply and not miss them at all

The duality and nuance of what I feel sits together side by side, firing across all my synapsis in perfect confusing harmony

Here is my soul, in my hands, curling around my fingers, dripping to the floor

When I set my soul here

I didn’t understand that the word vulnerable means to remove skin

So I stand here without skin, my soul in my hands, vulnerable to hope and disappointment as though caught in a beautifully wild dance that is leaving me at once dizzy and breathing calm

Which means: when I feel, it comes from some place deep

Like reaching into my belly button and through and through the muscle and fat and tissue and farther, past that space where my ribs meet and out past my spine, beyond my body, beyond my being, into a place where there is so much noise, all that can be heard is silence
