First time building Web App with multiple resources

As a child growing up, I’ve had several opportunities to experience the vast change to the video game community and the video game industries as a whole. Without much understanding of how technologies and video games work, I was very enthralled by the magic that is computer science. As new technology become a trend in today’s society, many company and society today must also adapt to the ever expanding world of tech. I firmly believe that everyone should be able to understand a fundamental grasp of computer science and what it can accomplish for our future.

I’m now a 21 year old male who live in the bay area of the monolithic area known as Silicon Valley where technology thrive. What inspired me to pursue the path of a developer and creator is not only my love for video games but also my curiosity for the unknown.

The inspiration for my app “Game List” was inspired by other hobby of watching Japanese anime and from the website “Myanimelist.net.” Just like the anime community, I want to make a website that anyone can access for free that have content, resources, and reviews from other users that is accurate and socially interactive. The website provided that you are able to view a list of games from any platform of gaming system, add them to your personal list of favorites, complete, game dropped etc.

My first challenges as a new web developer was the idea of CRUD web app. CRUD stands for Create, Retrieve, Update, and Delete. At first, it seem like a huge challenge comparing to what I was learning before. However, with practice, I realized that all it came down to was making a repetition of different resources. This combine with my lack of prior knowledge of JS was a huge challenge for me to overcome. To be frank, I did not like the syntactic ways of JS one bit because it look much bloated to me.

My favorite part about my project is the front end of my website! Using Bootstrap was fun and save many of my colleague a lot of time. I like thing neat and clear so it would be easier to imagine what I want to do next. However, I realized that Bootstraps was very limiting in term of customization and wanting a true custom website. No matter, Bootstraps had exactly what I was looking for in my project.

After term 1, I had realized that I have a lot to catch up on and a lot more to learn. In term of knowledge, I am definitely not up there with my fellow colleague. I want to work harder to be able to create something beautiful and technically challenging in the future.
