Today we arrived at Tyler Ranch. It took us a hell of a walk to get here. The dang bus driver ripped us off, lied straight to our faces. What a disgraceful man, should be ashamed of himself. Thanks to his tomfoolery, now we are over 10 hours late.

I reminded Lennie many times that he ain’t to speak to the boss man, I would speak for Lennie. He’d get us in trouble otherwise. Boy ain’t got a thought in his head, he always just says what he thinks. Curse his dang aunt for leavin him with me, she ain’t got the slightest of clue what trouble Lennie gets me into.

Knowing Lennie wouldn’t be able to keep his dang trap shut, I had to cover up and lie for the boy. Luckily, the boss ain’t think much of Lennie. I suspect he can see Lennie is different than the rest of us, but Lennie sure as hell can work till his lungs give out. I appreciate that about him, he’s got it in him. He just needs to toughen up on the outside.

We met a man named Candy. Poor man lost a dang hand in an accident. Ain’t nobody deserve that, he says he’s lucky the boss man kept him ‘round. I hate it. The way us workers get stepped on for just trying to make a livin’, working off by a dollar. An’ all we got goin for us is some red dirt. Well one day it’s gonna change imma get me that farm!
